Bucket goes to college
Someday when my niece, aka bucket, fussbucket is big enough to ask. We will tell her the story of when she, her mommy, and I went to Indiana University for a conference.
We had a blast!
While mommy was working, we went:
“Mommy-tracked” or when is work-life, just plain old life?
The Mommy-track post, or as Maggie Dammit would say, the post in which I lose several readers (in a fiery rage? she didn’t say that part). Anywho, back to my point, which was… am I evil for resenting a “New Parent Community of Practice” recently (heh) spawned at work? Don’t answer yet. Let me [...]

I haven’t been writing as much lately. Yes, I’ve been busy with work and work and work. Yes, I’ve been trying to learn about some other facets of the internet to grow my blog and make it better, perhaps even profitable.
But also, I’ve been blue. Deep, beautiful, aquamarine blue, in my core.
Home II
I hold my niece against my chest, tight. She laughs – her eyes sparkling with her laugh. She shrieks with glee rolling over my leg, my arm, my fingers on my sister’s soft bed. “Hava” says E, my niece.
“Ba” I say.
“Ma ma mama ba, hava?”
“ka la” I answer.
She giggles, throwing her head back, pleased [...]
35×365
PLEASE GO HERE
x365 was started by Dan Waber on his 40th birthday. The idea: write 40 words (no more, no less) every day for a year, and each day he’d write about a different person (in no particular order) who touched his life. But not just anyone, it has to be someone he’s actually met [...]
1/365 – Ellie
I’m working on my version of the x365 challenge started by Dan Waber on his 40th birthday: write 40 words (no more, no less) every day for a year. I’ve varied it slightly – I’m 35 so I’m writing 35 words. I may not write one per day but I love the concept and will [...]

I’m off to mom-a-palooza with my maternal grandma and aunt, my mom, my sister, and my baby niece. My poor lucky duck of a brother-in-law gets to come, too.
In honor of mother’s day, today’s momisms is a kinder/gentler momisms. Check it out!
and here’s a sneak preview: Momism of the day comes from Baby E (my [...]

Who is Washwords? PLEASE GO HERE
If you’re on this page because I begged, cajoled, manic-messaged you, then you already know who I am – be nice!
But if you’ve stumbled upon me, I’ve chosen to remain quasi-anonymous for a few reasons. I can share more detail with anyone who cares but in sum, I think I [...]
Snark Vs. Lark
May 18, 2008:

Wikipedia
I dreamt last night that my niece (6 mos.) said her first word:
“Wikipedia!”
Wikipedia, baby?” I asked in the dream.
My sister, her mom, scolded me: “Don’t say that! She’ll think she made a mistake and she’ll be afraid to say it next time!”
It made perfect sense.
