Good things : “Street Sense” (especially on baseball on April 1)
Please don’t tell me if Street Sense, the Washington D.C. based paper for and by the city’s homeless, has a downside, a seedy uncurrent, a mismanaged office. I don’t want to know. Because I love it.
I love the home-grown nature of it, the pull-yourself up by your bootstraps nature of it, and, frankly, the fine [...]
“Mommy-tracked” or when is work-life, just plain old life?
The Mommy-track post, or as Maggie Dammit would say, the post in which I lose several readers (in a fiery rage? she didn’t say that part). Anywho, back to my point, which was… am I evil for resenting a “New Parent Community of Practice” recently (heh) spawned at work? Don’t answer yet. Let me [...]

I haven’t been writing as much lately. Yes, I’ve been busy with work and work and work. Yes, I’ve been trying to learn about some other facets of the internet to grow my blog and make it better, perhaps even profitable.
But also, I’ve been blue. Deep, beautiful, aquamarine blue, in my core.
Home (the REAL home post)
The real reason I’ve been thinking about home is that I might be leaving this one soon. This one, being downtown, “THE city” (sorry, nyc), my hipster dupont city girl pad, my newly-divorced-to-single woman pad.

I open the curtain to see that no, it is the summer sky before a storm.
Yellow beams hit my curtains, pebbled sandy driveway, clean white stone of the walls of my building. The rain is [...]
Home II
I hold my niece against my chest, tight. She laughs – her eyes sparkling with her laugh. She shrieks with glee rolling over my leg, my arm, my fingers on my sister’s soft bed. “Hava” says E, my niece.
“Ba” I say.
“Ma ma mama ba, hava?”
“ka la” I answer.
She giggles, throwing her head back, pleased [...]
Home is…
Too cheesy to say “where the heart is” ?
Probably. But it’s true.
I’ve been thinking a lot about home lately. Not just because Nablopomo told me to think about it – it’s their theme for June, but ABOUT home. About where it is, how you know it, how you hold onto it, how [...]

The biggest gift
My new friend, Eleni and her husband, are wanting to give. They’re wanting to give big – they’re wanting to give… themselves, to a child who needs them. Below is her letter that asks simply, can you help in any way, big or small, with this giving?
I know mentioning adoption, fertility, babies, spurs emotion [...]
