Tim Russert Dies of Heart Attack

Really? Really, universe? Did this have to be?
Did it have to be Father’s Day weekend, Friday the 13th, out of nowhere, without warning.

How many truly great men do we have to lose? How can we have an election without him?
Adieu, Tim Russert, great journalist, great man, kind person, Washintonian at core, man of the people (I saw him on the Metro. A lot. He always said hello and smiled.)

My heart is sunken. Truly.

My friend from Ft. Lauderdale didn’t realize how big of a deal this was because he’s such a DC institution. It was such a big deal that I called my mom, heh.

I just can’t believe it. I’m totally crushed. Growing up around here, he was a huge force in my childhood. :(

My favorite thing he ever did (sorry, I know this is shallow) is when he showed up on Homicide: Life on the Streets to have an argument with his fictional sister.

It is sad. Seems like a waste to lose such a talented man at such a young age.

I liked him. He seemed very fair and honest on TV.

My husband said that Tim had posted to his blog at around 12:30 Friday. I wonder if he was sitting there feeling funky but ignoring it because he had soooo much work to do.

I agree – don’t know how we can have an election without him – particularly THIS election.

you and me both :( I cried a little at my desk friday when i found out. such a tragedy. :(

Me too, cried at my desk. I actually, literally felt sick. sigh. then I decided to watch about a zillion hours of msnbc. that scene at the end of “meet the press” pan to the empty chair, ohhh. and the stories about his son. awwwhooo. My boyfriend and I went to the newseum too, his idea!, which was a wonderful healing way to pay tribute and say adieu.

a good therapeutic cry at least! why do all the good ones have to go, really? Not sure how many more rock solid men I can lose whether real relations or vague connections I know electronically, virtually. So hang in there Jack Diamond, Tom Brokaw, Jim Leher. Enough is enough!
